Fibromyalgia Days – some Bad and some Worse

I have just recovered from a few really bad days with my symptoms from Fibromyalgia. Some days I wonder which is worse, the Pain or the Fatigue. At least when I hurt bad, I can still manage to work. I may not think as clearly (fibro-fog) or move so quickly, but I can still function. On the days when the fatigue is worse I really have a rough time working. I can barely make it out of bed and I feel pretty much worthless on the job. I can’t seem to think straight, and other symptoms like, Irritable Bowel, Pain feeling like Itch, Numbness and tingling in any part of my body that you can imagine. For the past three days I have had both Pain and Fatigue along with everything else. I hurt in places where I never thought you could have pain. I have had shooting pain in my penis (I am somewhat reluctant to share this, but mayhaps someone else can take comfort in the fact that they are not the only one that has pain there), if you can imagine that! A lot of pain in my legs, hips, Butt and scalp. I have not been able to shower because the water hitting my skin hurts too much to stand. One of the most dis-heartening things is that my wife needed comforting and wanted to cuddle with me, but I had to tell her I could not cuddle right now, because of the pain. "Are there other fibromyalgia sufferers like me", I wonder. I thank God that the weather is nicer today. Everytime the Barometric Pressure changes, it causes me to hurt more, but especially when the pressure is dropping. For a long time people wondered how I was able to predict changes in the weather. I can usually tell you three days in advance, before it is going to rain. I have suffered several ailments in my life but this; this Fibromyalgia is a thief. It has robbed me of my health, quality of life and has also caused me to feel shut out by friends and family. I think that most of them just don’t want to see me when I am suffering symptoms, but it doesn’t make it any less emotionally painful. Sometimes I wish they could understand what I have been going through for the past ten to twelve years, but that would mean that they would have to suffer in order to relate to me, and I would never wish this illness on any other human being.
One of the worst feelings is; I feel that I am not a good testimony as a christian. I know God understands that I am not capable of what I used to be able to do. I know that the Bible teaches that "His Grace is sufficient for me". I guess I just need to concentrate on my Faith that He is always able to take that which is weak and make it His strength. He is able to use my feable body to give Him Praise, even if I don’t see or understand the way He is working. I know it is not His fault that I have this disease, and that He would never give it to me (He only gives good gifts to His children)… I suppose we all must suffer in one way or another so that we can understand how much He loves us in that He was willing to suffer unto death in order to secure our Salvation. So,… even if I do not feel like it I will choose to Praise Him, and Thank Him for taking a miserable wretch like me, and still manage to use me to serve Him and love others.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I just needed to vent a little bit. I sometimes feel so overwhelmed by the loss of my health, when I should just be Thankful for lifes blessings. God’s love and the love of my family (including my church family) is much greater than any pain I can suffer here on this earth.
If anyone else out there needs to vent, or share your feelings about Fibromyalgia I have set up an old style forum on my web site. Click Here to go to the Forum (I set this up for people who have Fibromyalgia and still manage to operate a business, But it is really for anyone that wants to share with us).

Free Businesses (Business Frugality)

Budget Your Business to Success
I haven’t been able to write to my blog for a bit due to my Fibromyalgia Symptoms giving me a hard time lately and other obligations just keep getting in the way. I fanally observed a void in the time-space continueum so I am taking advantage of it to write a little bit about being frugal with your business decisions. Some of you know that I suffer from fibromyalgia from reading a few of my blogs or articles, what you may not know is that I am a pastor of a small community church. So, aside from the fact that I work a full-time job as a flooring consultant and trying to build my online business, there are ocassions when time and energy are in short supply. Some days, just getting out of bed is quite the challenge, so I do not want to create greater burdens in my life by making irrational business decisions that will cost me more money than it makes me. I am not trying to get rich and I don’t fall for any get rich quick scams, but there are always temptations to spend more than you should in hopes of getting a more immediate result. The economy has been very slow this year and people either don’t have, or are unwilling to spend on higher ticket items like carpet, ceramic tile, laminate and hardwoods. Therefore, I reasoned that our Area Rugs would be selling better since they are not a big ticket item.
I was very tempted to spend an excessive amount of money on area rug stock, and on advertising for my web site. Overhead for any business is extreme. If you start making decisions based on your emotions or out of a false sense of urgency, you can find yourself in trouble very quickly. When I started my Online business, I had decided up-front that I was not going to build a large overhead, in fact, everything I do Online I try to do Free; or as cheap as humanly possible. The wash-out rate for web business is just to great to justify spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on an advertising campaign that may or may not bring in more business. Even though I end up working harder for every visitor that comes to my web site, it is somehow more rewarding. If you have a lot of money to sink into your advertising, you can always hire others to do the grunt work, but you miss out on something. When you are your own webmaster and SEO specialist you have to get educated, and even though things take longer this way, your education will serve you well for many years, and many opportunities that may come in the future. Don’t let the many online opportunity sales copies lure you into spending any more than you can afford. I would much rather still be swimming one or two years from now, than to sink my business in a matter of weeks or months by spending more than I should on opportunities or advertising.
There are thousands of so-called opportunities on the internet, and each one that has a pitch or angle that sounds so good, but most of them just want your money in exchange for that which benefits only them. If you go slowly and do your research you can usually find a similar or exact opportunity that you can get going for free. I have a couple of them listed on our web site. (Good, honest opportunities with potential for those who are willing to put in the effort). Here is an example of one I came across the other day. They wanted me to pay fifty dollars, right now, "before the offer expires". I did a little more research and found the exact same opportunity that you can start for FREE. The only difference is the amount of commission you make on each sale (not that much difference). Go here if you want to check it out…

RugRunnerBiz Celebration Area Rug Web Site is Celebrating Two Milestones
After several months of hard work, we have finally acheived two major milestones for our online business. God has truly blessed us. In order to show our appreciation and to allow everyone to share in our celebration, we are reducing all of the prices at our General Store.
Anyone who is in business for themselves should set goals to acheive within a certain period of time. Even though we have not reached all of our goals, we would still like to see more participation in our Rug Care, Interior Design and tips and ideas, (so please send your tips and tricks for these areas) we have realized two areas of growth that show us that we are headed in the right direction.
We believe that Area Rugs are not just a selfish indulgence for our clients, but Area Rugs are an absolute necessity for modern home interior design. With the widespread use of hard-surface flooring, there are certain areas in our home where we need an area rug for comfort and beauty. Area Rugs are also the perfect accessory for color balance, room accent or room partitioning. Rugs are also perfect for protecting an existing flooring or to cover an ugly section of existing flooring. Have you ever looked at an interior design magazine or catalog and NOT seen pictures of beautifully designed rooms that almost always make use of Area Rugs.
Our original idea for this web site was to design an online location for people to share their interior design tips and tricks using Area Rugs but not limited to area rugs. We want to provide a place for people to share their passion for flooring and interior design, as well as offering quality area rugs at a reasonable price. You may also send your pictures or articles for inclusion on our web site.
But for now, we shall count ourselves blessed for the success God has allowed us and look forward to attaining even more of our goals in the coming year. Celebrate with us and share the savings.
May God grant you success in your endeavors,

How Important is a Blog?

How much do you want your business to succeed?

As a Businessman with Fibromyalgia, it always takes me longer to accomplish things than healthy people. Some days I am in so much pain that it makes it hard to concentrate. Other days the Fibro-Fog (hazy thought processes) slow me down to a crawl, and then there are the days that the chronic fatigue along with the pain and fog make it impossible to get anything accomplished. Anyway, I am not having a pity party or making excuses. I just wanted to preface my thoughts on the subject of blogging with the fact that it took me a while to figure out how important it could be to a business.

If you have an Internet business it can be one of the more important things you do to:

  1. Get more traffic to your web site
  2. Get noticed more by Search Engines
  3. Get your message out to more people
  4. Guide people to your product or service

You can have the greatest product or service on the planet but if nobody knows about it, you will soon be out of business. When I first heard about blogging, I thought that it was just an online diary of personal thoughts (and it is. But there is much more to it than that). I had originally believed that blogs were an outlet for narcissistic, self important people to get their thoughts onto the web. I also wondered why anyone would even want to read the babbling of such sort of people. I had no clue that a blog could be an important tool for business and pleasure. What I have learned (by experience) is that each one of us has an area of expertise. We each posses knowledge of subjects that other people have interest in. When they want to know more about something, they look for the information on the Internet, and they look for that information by typing it into a Search Engine portal. We are fast becoming a society that seeks information on the web more than in libraries.

Do people really care what I think about a certain subject. Well, they may or may not care about what you think, but they definitely want to know what you know about a subject that they are interested in. That is where the advantage is yours. I have been using blogs for a relatively short period of time and this is what I have seen. If you write quality content about something of which you are truly passionate, people will read it. There is also a unique phenomenon which takes place after you publish your blog. Your blog will show up in search engines within a few days or weeks. It took me months to even get a search engine to robot my web site, but my blogs are showing up all over the search engines and in some of the strangest and most beautiful places. They have shown up in e-zines, as posts on other web sites, and as search results for certain keywords which I could never afford to bid for with a PPC campaign. At first it bothered me that nobody left any comments on my blogs, but after seeing where they end up, it is really of no consequence.

Needless to say, I now use blogs as much as possible to advertise and brand myself and therefore my business. I operate a web site where I offer a limited selection of quality wool area rugs, but the competition is fierce and unrelenting. I spent months reading everything I could about adwords and other PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns and trying every trick in the book to get the coveted first page search results, and all without a whole lot of success. Every time I would come up with a great keyword, it was already being used by someone else, and every time I would raise my bid on that keyword, they would simply raise theirs above that which I could afford to pay. I had to find a way to get my product in front of as many people as possible without going into horrible debt. My advertising budget for my web site is extremely small compared to my competitors. If you start a business with a small amount of working capital, be prepared to get squashed by the big guys. And yet, I was not ready to give up or give in. I just needed other means to get advertising results.

I now use a few methods that are a little more obscure, but dirt cheap. I write articles for e-zines about subjects I have knowledge and experience, and I now blog. After seeing the results of a few blogging efforts, I think I shall continue to blog for a long time to come. I wasted a lot of time and money on trying to make the perfect PPC campaign. Of the hundreds of keywords that I have tried using, adwords now wants a minimum bid that is way above that which I am able to pay, and I have been getting far better results by simply sharing my thoughts, knowledge and experience in articles and blogs. Sometimes, business is about working harder and smarter, in order to achieve your dreams. Blogs are a great tool to get you started, and it is much more fun than paying through the nose for quality advertising. Great Internet business opportunities are abundant if you can avoid the scams and are really willing to work for what you get. I have some good examples of Free to start businesses on my web site. Come by for a visit if you are in the market for a career where you can set your own course to adventure, or if you just need a good area rug for your home.

Placing an Area Rug on wall-to-wall Carpet

A question came in about laying aan area rug on top of wall to wall carpet.
There is an old wive’s tale that if you place a rug on top of a carpet that it is bad for the carpet.
In my experience, most area rugs are alright to put on top of carpet. It used to be believed that placing a rug on carpet would cause premature wear on the surface fibers of the carpet. This simply is not true… unless the area rug has a backing that is soo rough that it is like heavy grit sandpaper… and I have yet to see a rug that has this problem. Most area rugs are okay to use right on top of your carpet.
The only word of caution that I would give is that you do not use rugs with a heavy or solid latex backing. The kind of latex backing that is found on bath room rugs. They are made with this extra layer of latex on the backing so that they will not slip on wet or glossy flooring. If you place this type of rug on any flooring it may cause damage, but not from premature wear. Because this type of rug backing does not allow the rug to due to the heavy layer of latex, you may experience solarization. This creates problems on concrete floors when there is any moisture or alkali in or under the conrete slab. It can draw the moisture up through the padding and carpet causing moisture related damage to the flooring. These type of rugs will also cause damage to vinyl flooring (linoleum) under certain cicumstances. Most of the time you can remove the rug and you will see discoloration on the vinyl and this is due to moisture being drawn up into the backing of the vinyl floor. In fact when you see discoloration on vinyl flooring that is under the vinyl surface and not on top of the vinyl, it is usually due to moisture getting under the vinyl in some way. That is a good reason to make sure that you caulk around vinyl flooring, especially near tubs and showers, so that moisture does not work its way under the vinyl flooring. I have also removed rugs that were on top of carpet, only to find that moisture had caused damage to the carpet and padding in that area only, from discoloration, mildew or alkali. The carpet will usually be discolored and will fall apart if you pull at it or try to vacuum the area.
For this reason I also advise my clients to use masonite desk chair mats in an office area. The plastic ones will also cause solorization because they do not allow the flooring to breathe.
So don’t be afraid to use an area rug on top of carpet as long as it is a decent rug (preferably a natural fiber, but nylon or man-made silk is also okay). In fact, if you have heavy wear areas or ugly spots on your carpet, an area rug over that area is an inexpensive solution to the problem. If you stay away from the cheap rugs that have a heavy layer of extra latex or rubber on the back, your carpet will be protected instead of damaged.

Replacing Forum with Blog

I have been racking my brain for months, trying to find a forum format that is Search Engine friendly.
Now that I am able to insert my blog into the webite, this seems to be the most logical solution.
Just leave your questions and answers as comments to this blog and it will be easier for other people on the Internet to find them. You can also take advantage of this capability by leaving links to sites that are related or writing articles of interest pertaining to Area Rugs, Flooring, Home Design, Tips and Tricks, Cleaning Tips, etc…
I hope this will work better for us to share useful information on these subjects.
Thank You,
Charles Beason
